Sacraments · Baptism

The beginning of the journey.

Baptism is more than a ceremony — it is the sacred rite of initiation into the Christian life, welcoming us into the family of God and beginning a lifelong relationship with Christ.

Baptizing Your Child

Children under 7 are eligible. Please register at least two months in advance at the Parish Office.

1 · Register Early

Visit the Parish Office at least two months ahead. Bring the child’s birth certificate or hospital birth document.

2 · Choose Godparents

Godparents must be at least 16, fully initiated in the Catholic Church (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist), and living in harmony with the faith.

3 · Preparation Class

Parents and godparents attend a preparatory class. Certificates from a class within the last year are valid. Then schedule the baptism with the office — private baptisms subject to priest availability.

Baptism as an Adult

The OCIA Path

Adults prepare through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults — a journey of discovery, faith, and community leading to Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.

What It Involves

Full initiation into the Catholic Church · a deeper understanding of adult Catholic life · active participation in the parish · living the Gospel through service and charity.

Ready to begin? Visit the Parish Office or write to parishoffice@saintmariana.org — for adult formation, ask for Moisés Vargas, Faith Formation Director.
